Happy Valentine's Day!

Beckett had his valentine's party at daycare last Thursday and as part of his fun-filled day he created a valentine's project.  I'm so glad he likes art and being creative!  Here are some pictures from home and daycare of his recent projects.

Not sure he was wanting to pause for a picture here!

Working on a card for Paul and Eileen, whose anniversary was yesterday.

I remember having those stencils when I was little.

My serious artist.

The finished project.  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Grandmas

I am lucky to still have both of my grandmas around, and I always say that I'm going to spend more time with them and sadly fall short.  So when I didn't have school on Friday I invited them to come up and see the new house and hang out with Beckett and I.  Rissa and Kaden came over too, so we had a good morning of catching up followed by going out for lunch together.

I didn't think to take pictures right away, so I didn't get to take very many.
Great Grandma Marilyn and Beckett working on his alphabet train puzzle.  They make a pretty good team!

This was at the end of lunch.  It was so cute to watch Beckett sharing his "popcorns" and fries with Great Grandma Ardis.

Nine Days

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday.  I am dilated 1 cm and the baby is still very low.  The doctor figures the baby is already lower than Beckett ever was (darn big head!) so we're hopeful this baby will enter the world through the birth canal.

That being said, I am terrified of giving birth.  About a month ago Chad and I took a refresher birthing course, and I left the class more confused than I started.  Since our last experience resulted in a c-section, the instructor really couldn't say if I would have a delivery similar to a first-time one (think drawn out labor) or a faster moving delivery that seems to happen with subsequent births.  And there's a chance for a repeat c-section if I fail to progress like last time.  I feel like I could better prepare mentally if only I knew!

Everyone is saying how the baby could come any day now, but I am perfectly fine waiting until February 21st or longer if necessary.

Mmmmmm, cake

The way Beckett talks about cake and cupcakes you would think they are his favorite thing to eat.  However, Beckett does not actually eat the cake (not my child) but instead just licks off and eats the frosting.
What is up with this face lately?

Think of all the perfectly good chocolate cake going to waste... sigh.

Shark Boy

This past weekend I was at Michael's craft store taking advantage of a 10-pack of art canvases deal (you know how I love a good deal!)  While I was there I ran across some felt hats for kids, and since I had my 40% off coupon with me I bought one for Beckett.

Introducing Shark Boy:

The tag said this hat was for 3+ years... I'd hate to see how small the 2yrs one would be on Beckett's melon!

It's Above Zero!

On Sunday it was nice enough for us to go outside.  The weather has been fairly extreme lately and the days above zero seem far and few between (I'm pretty sure the teachers at school can tell you exactly how many days since the kids cannot go out for recess unless it's above zero).

Chad was working hard at clearing off the driveway, so Beckett and I got out the shovels so it looked like we were working too.

I love it when you can use a "seasonal" toy for more than one season!  And I'm very impressed that I was able to figure out which box it was in.
Chad makes a tower out of snow for Beckett...
And it took all of his self-control to wait until Chad finished the tower to destroy it.
It's never too cold or snowy to ride a John Deere.
But you may have to change your course a bit.

I Love Coupons

Last summer I started using coupons.  There are times when I'll spend an hour getting coupons ready for a grocery trip and the savings aren't worth my time.  There are other times when I get a great deal, and those are what keep me clipping and following the blogs of brilliant, frugal moms.

The following products (baby laundry detergent and toddler toothpaste) had a pre-tax, regular list price total of around $23.  With coupons and a gift card that I was able to get by becoming a fan on Facebook I paid $2.54.  Woo hoo!

Baby's Room: Check!

I think I'm officially done getting the baby's room ready - unless I'm having a major brain fart about something.  I did see while hanging up decorations that I never got around to putting Beckett's picture in the frame with the generation baby pictures.  But I guess that just means I can do Beckett and the baby's at the same time!

You Spin Me Round

You can spend a ridiculous amount of money on toys, but kids will find fun in the simplest things with their creative minds and imaginations.  Take for example the living room recliner.  The last time Kaden and Mateo were here those 3 boys had more fun spinning in the recliner than any other toy in the house!

All About the Berries

Beckett and I are both fans of Capn' Crunch Berries.  Both of us would prefer to eat only the berries.  At one time they made Oops All Berries - those were the days!!  I'm good about eating the "plain ones" and the berries, Beckett ... not so much.

I'm thinking he's trying to calculate how many more plain ones he has to eat before he can ask for more berries.
