Shingles, Stone and Siding

Well I can't blame being behind on postings on my builder. The last week and a half has been a busy and productive one, and it's fun watching the house progress and see our decisions in "real life" and not just photoshopped on a drawing!

Almost finished with the roof.

I'm amazed we've been close to schedule with the amount of precipitation October brought.

The shingling begins!

Fascia and the base for stone is next.

Chad and I really, really love this stone.

Looking in to the living room.

Stone is complete on half of the house!

Shingling almost complete as well, and the ground is starting to dry out.

And the siding! As you can see it rained again today. =) Good thing our exterior work is almost finished and we won't have to worry about the weather anymore.

What a Difference One Work Day Makes!

Chad met with our builder on Friday who said he might be able to get us in the house by December 31. I don't think he was kidding about kicking up the timeline, because look how much they completed on the house today!

More roofing up, as well as footings and retaining wall for the covered deck.

Grandma and grandpa come along to look at the house.

Master bedroom, with the master bath also in view.

Beckett's room.

Baby's rom (kind of have to use your imagination on these pics!)

Living room (can't wait for the light my big windows will let in!!)

More Framing and the Start of the Roof

The house has started moving quickly again! We have walls, and the start of a roof.

You can see how much precipitation we've gotten lately!

Framing Begins!

Last week the framing began, and then the snow came shortly after! Our plumber told Chad we've had precipitation 13 of the last 16 days, but I don't think it will delay the timeline (hopefully!)

Basement Walls and Floors

The rain hasn't stopped the progress on the house. While pouring the concrete for the basement floor has been put on hold, we now have outer walls for the walkout and the floor trusses are done. It's starting to look more like a house each day!

The walkout.

A little closer! There is also plywood down for the main level floor.

Side view - the lot to the west of us just broke ground today.

Main floor and looks like walls are ready to go up next.

Backfill & Underground Plumbing

Progress on the house is coming along nicely! The past week or so has been backfill, rough grade, underground plumbing and installing the electric meter. While this has been happening they've been getting the walls ready for framing, so we're thinking once the framing process starts it shouldn't take long at all!

We've been busy making decisions for the exterior and the interior. We've decided on: windows, siding and trim color, gutters, shingles, millwork and doors, door hardware, garage door, cabinets, countertops, interior paint and stone. Whew! Decisions on flooring, lighting and plumbing fixtures are left.

Backfill and rough grade.
Closer view. You can see walls ready to go on the ground!

Pile of dirt ready for the driveway grading.

Ta dah!

Uh oh, had a little accident during rough grade. Chad made sure to document!

More documentation.

Footings and Foundation

Getting ready to pour concrete for our foundation!

Chad and Beckett check out the handy work.

Southwest wall of the house.

Chad's job was to contain Beckett, who wanted to explore everything.

Southeast corner and near covered deck (I think!)

I'm excited to watch these forms turn into something!

A whole lot of garage on this house. This means I can bargain for my wants too!

The House Building Begins

Rendering of the front of the house... a little squished.

Our corner lot!

There will be one house in the middle of ours and the existing house.

Ready for digging!

Property is staked - 9/8/09.

Beckett and Grandpa check out the machinery.

Breaking ground is delayed until the bank has closed on the lot. Week 1 and already a delay!
